Logging into your team platform: What you need to know
Coach or team manager logging into your team's digital system for the first time? Here's the practical guide to login, access levels, and what to do when it doesn't work.
Which systems Norwegian teams use
Most Norwegian football teams use one of these platforms: Spond (most widespread in grassroots football), MinIdrett (the official system of NIF and sports federations), or the club's own membership system. Some larger clubs still run their own solutions connected to invoicing and membership registers. Which system your team uses is usually found in the invitation email you received when you accepted the coach or manager role. If nothing is stated there, ask the person who recruited you – most clubs have someone who handles digital systems.
Spond is free for individuals and requires someone on the team (often the team manager) to create the group. MinIdrett requires login via the sports federation's pages and assumes the club has entered you as coach or manager in the system. Individual club solutions vary: some use BankID, others have username and password, some connect to Vipps Login.
First login: What you need
For Spond: Download the app (iOS or Android), create a user account with mobile number or email, and accept the invitation you received via SMS or email. Invitation links in Spond do not expire, but if you wait more than a week, the team manager may have already added someone else to the role.
For MinIdrett: Go to idrettsforbundet.no or your sports federation's website, select "Log in", and use BankID or MinID. The first time you log in, check that your personal information is correct – this is the same system that handles licenses and permissions. If you see no teams or groups, it means the club has not yet registered you. Call the main contact at the club (usually listed on the team's website or in the welcome materials).
For the club's own system: You usually receive a username and temporary password by email. Log in within the deadline stated in the email – many systems deactivate the account after 7-14 days if you do not complete the setup. Change the password immediately; the requirement is often a minimum of eight characters, at least one capital letter and one number.
What you have access to as coach or team manager
In Spond, coaches see the entire player list with contact information for parents, can create training sessions and matches, send messages to the entire group, and register attendance. The team manager has the same access plus the economy module if the group uses it. Assistant coaches usually get read access to events and participant lists, but cannot always edit or delete.
In MinIdrett, coaches get access to the team's match overview, player list and license status. You cannot change membership data – that is done by the club's administrator or the parents themselves. Team managers often also see invoice overviews and insurance status, depending on what permissions the club has set up. NFF requires that everyone registered as coaches has a valid police certificate; if the system shows you are missing it, contact the club immediately.
In the club's own system, access varies greatly. Some give coaches full access to match reports and training logs, others limit you to the calendar and registration lists. Check with the main contact what you can actually do – it saves time rather than searching through the system.
When login doesn't work
Forgotten password: Use the "Forgot password" function on the login page. In Spond, the system sends a code via SMS to the number you registered with. In MinIdrett, you reset via BankID or MinID, which always works because it is linked to the Tax Administration. Club systems usually send a reset link by email – check spam if it does not appear within five minutes.
Invitation not received: Check spam first. Spond invitations come from notifications@spond.com. If you find nothing, ask the team manager to resend the invitation – it takes ten seconds. In MinIdrett, the club administrator must add you manually; invitations are not sent automatically.
Wrong access level: You have logged in but do not see what you need. In Spond, this happens if the team manager registered you as a parent instead of a coach. Ask for the role to be changed – the team manager goes to "Members", clicks on your name, selects "Edit role", and sets the correct level. In MinIdrett, the club must change this in the administration module; you cannot do it yourself.
Account locked: After three incorrect login attempts, many systems lock the account for 15-30 minutes. Wait, or contact support if it is urgent. Spond has chat in the app (top right corner, speech icon). MinIdrett has a support phone on weekdays 09-15 (see idrettsforbundet.no/kontakt). Club systems: call the club.
Security and shared devices
Never share your login with anyone, not even assistant coaches or parents who "help out". Everyone who needs access gets their own account. This especially applies to systems with personal information about children – GDPR requires that each person has their own traceable login.
If you log in on a shared iPad or PC (for example in the clubhouse), remember to log out when you are finished. In Spond: tap the profile icon at the bottom right, scroll down, select "Log out". In MinIdrett: click on your name at the top right, select "Log out". Some systems automatically log you out after 20-30 minutes without activity, but do not rely on it.
If you need help
Most football clubs have one person (often called "digital contact" or "system manager") who can help locally. You usually find the name on the club's website under "Contact us" or in the welcome materials you received. This person knows exactly the system your club uses and can give you access or fix errors in minutes.
For Spond: support.spond.com has both user guides and chat. For MinIdrett: idrettsforbundet.no/minidrett has video guides and frequently asked questions. For club systems: check the club's website or call the club office.
If you are responsible for multiple teams or groups, use the same email address and mobile number in all systems – then notifications are collected in one place. If you need separate notifications for each team, most systems can send you both email and push notification, so you can turn off push for the teams you are only a substitute for.
